Pastoral Associate 

Pastoral Associate is responsible for Catholic services and faith formation of Latinos:

Liturgist - prepares all liturgical materials needed by priest for Sunday Spanish Mass;

                prepares liturgies for the seasons of worship; Sacramental celebrations;

Sermon - translates sermons so English-speaking priest can communicate in Spanish;    

Commentator – leads people in all liturgical and community prayers and services;

Trainer – trains Lectors, Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and Greeters;

Cultural - develop religious programs for special cultural liturgical events;

Catechist – Collaborates with CRE to recruit and train catechists for Sunday school;

                    prepares parents for baptism and couples for marriage and weddings;

Small Group – leads Renew “ Why Catholic” and Bible study groups, retreats and prayer days;

Family Days – collaborates with St. Meinrad to provide faith formation programs and retreats;

Translator – translate sermons, Church bulletins and newsletters into Spanish;

Committees - Adult Formation; Parish Council; Juan Diego executive & advisory boards;

Health – collaborate with Director of HOLA to provide health services for Latinos;

Education – collaborate with Director of Language Academy to provide ENL & SNL classes;

Administration – prepare annual budget, annual grant applications, supervise staff.

 Job Requirements: bi-lingual (fluent in English & Spanish), bi-cultural (awareness and appreciation of American and Latino cultures); bachelors degree with a major in religious studies, theology, liturgy, or a minimum of five years experience in religious education, liturgy or Catholic Church ministry.

 Salary, Hours, Benefits: $32,000.00; 30 hours per week; Diocesan insurance; 6 sick days per year; one week vacation; two weeks after two years; three weeks after five years; benefits as approved by the Nativity Parish Pastoral Council & Diocese of Evansville;
